Maria CreditCard

De Mariacreditcard© / A Marian creditcard / A Holy Mary creditcard.

 We live in a material world.

Our western society urges us to think business. Study! Get a job! Function! Work at least 8 days a week. At the meantime the costs of living are ever increasing. Hardly any single-income family can afford a car or a private house these days. Toddlers are forced to go to day-care and play-groups at an ever earlier age. Whereas the media never get tired of promising us material wealth and holidays in the sun we hardly manage to set aside time for  simple moments of withdrawal, meditation and prayer.

 The immaterial

Thanks be to God life is more than money! Sure, we all need to survive, but true life cannot be bought. True joy is immaterial. Real meaning is derived from solidarity. As Christians we see this embodied in Jesus: in His life, attitudes and stories God shows us what true life is not an escape from difficulties but a radical devotion to people in need.

 The faces of Our Lady

Nobody can mean for Jesus what his Mother has meant for Him. Many Christians feel appealingly familiar and at ease with her. For this reason the Marian creditcard shows us on the one hand the familiar “Our Lady of Perpetual Succour” and on the other hand “Our Lady of the Papuas”. Isn’t it great that the same Mother of Jesus is appealing to so many Christians in a variety of cultural worlds?

 Why a “Marian Creditcard”

·         Many people have photographs of their dear ones in their wallet. Why not add our heavenly mother to this personal collection as a prayer, a greeting, an acknowledgment?

·         Why return to a gas station straight away if you have tanked without using your bonuscard? Why not return to the immaterial straight away if you have focussed too much on the “instant salvation” promised by our material world?

·         You cannot pay your bills with this cardit but you will definitely be rewarded by not having surrendered to this material world only;

·         The money you have paid for this card will help the Papua’s in the Archdiocese Merauke in Western Papua who badly need our material and spiritual support.

·         At the end of the day, isn’t saving your soul more essential than collecting the points offered by “Douwe Egberts” points, “Airmiles”, “Rocks” etc? As is written on our card:

“The acquired results will be guaranteed perpetually”
