Chassis no.: 511861 |
Owner: John MacKellaich
Place: Inverness, Scotland
Country: United Kingdom
Model: P1 - P2?
Type: 12 Saloon
Colour: Black
Building year: 1935
License plate: JD 5238
Date of ownership: 02.10.2003
More information: Rover 12 I call it a P1 as it is different to the all steel P2 although engine
chassis etc carried over. It was originally Red over Black, but previous owner
sprayed it in one colour to cut down the cost. I would like to return it to the
original colour scheme eventually.
The car was held in storage in Henlys garage in London from around 1980 until sold at auction. all records were lost during the war years.
Very original only having had to replace the carpet due to smell.
Travelled to Lake District around 700 miles in total at around 45mph although 25 m.p.g. which for a seventy plus year old car is quiet good. Gearbox is difficult first very bad but once on the move it changes well if you do not rush it.

More information:
P2 first owned by a S. Walsh registered on the 2nd January 1947. It was kept by its first owner until Nov 1995 it passed through a number of people who all were going to restore it, but for one reason or another probably wives got feed up with it in the garage. Eventually one owner completed the restotration.
It has had a complete new interior in green leather, including headlining, rewired and new paint job.
I have not had the car long but is very nice and runs very well.
