Retro Renault - introduction
These Retro Renault pages are dedicated to all the Renaults of the 1970's. We concentrate on
the ever reliable, very underestimated Renault 12 and the sporty and classy, luxury coupés Renault 15 and 17.
But we will also provide links to other sites that are dedicated to "Renaults of the 70's".
Almost all of the "Renaults of the 70's" are real classics: how many people have started their
driving career in the Renault 4 for example. And who doesn't remember the Renault 5, the first real
supermini, and then there was off course the 'big' Renault of the 70's, the ever respected Renault 16.
Meanwhile, also the Renault R6, Renault 20/30, the Estafette and the newer "Renaults of the 70's"
(the R14 and R18) have a lot of fans.
A short introduction to who we are:
Dave:
My oldest memories of being a Renault fan are from the end of the 70's. I had a huge Renault poster
on the wall of my bedroom. One side showed a yellow Renault 14, on the other side was an overview
of all the Renault models of that time.
In 1991 I got my driver's license and my first car had to be a Renault. I decided to buy a ten
year old Fuego. But after one (very expensive) year I sold the Fuego to buy the Renault I really loved:
the Renault 17.
While this red coupé is still being restored, I bought a second Renault 17 in France in May 1999.
To me this silvergrey 1976 R17 TL découvrable automatic is a real dream-come-true. I only drive
this car on sunny summer days, so I can fully enjoy the open roof-top and the comfortable drive of
this real classic.
My personal page has more information about all the Renaults I owned. Click the
"My Renaults" page.

Marion:
After some months of almost desperately
seeking for his 'dream-car', my boyfriend decided to buy the next interesting
car that came around: a Renault 12. A friend noticed that he knew a R12
that had belonged to an old men that unfortunately had died, and now the
car was looking for a new owner. When my boyfriend brought this car home,
for me it was love at first sight. I instantly, spontaneously started laughing.
However, it wasn't until my boyfriend sold the car that I realised that
I was really fond of it.
So from January 2000 until July 2004 I enjoyed driving in my beautiful,
orange Renault 12 TR automatic (1975). Maybe someday......

Yes! Autumn 2010 marks the return of the R12
to our carpark. We bought a yellow 1973 R12 TS in France. See the Renault 12
section. Enjoy!
