At Sig. A. d'Adamich racing school in Varano Italy they used several SZ's for training purposes. People following the course had the opportunity to use those beautifull last produced rear wheel driven Alfa Romeos to practice donuts ecc.
The cars shown on the above picture all had Milano licence plates with the following numbers: MI 7Y1288 / MI 7Y1289 / MI 7Y1290 / MI 7Y1291 / MI 7Y1293 / MI 7Y1294.
Over the years I found some of those cars back again and because of Sig. d'Adamich stored all the original parts from those SZ's, they could be build back to original easily as most new owners did.
Those circuit cars had some extras, like stickers on the body of the car, a roll over bar, towing hook, trophy wheels, racing clips on the bonnet, onboard radio to communicate with the leader of the course, black racing seats, sometimes also a black interior and a different steeering wheel. To ventilate the brakes some cars had holes in the mudguards with a big tube running from the inside of the front bumper to the calipers.
Sig. d'Adamich also had a perfect Trophy racer in his personal collection with the numberplate: MI 7Y1292. This car has been registered in The Netherlands and a
few years later sold to Germany .
Another SZ owned by d'Adamich was the car with the numberplate: MI 7Y1287. This car was used at open Ferrari Trofeo races around Italy (speed starts).
And another SZ was SZ244. SZ 862 on the left side, licenced: MI 7Y1288.
The d'Adamich family still has an SZ ( MI 6S5150 ) and an RZ ( MI 7X1660 ) in their private collection.
The Varano race track nowadays.
