We will remember them........

Every year on May 4th the schoolchildren of Holten have their special ceremony at 11.00 hrs on the Canadian War Cemetery Holten. The children participate in this ceremony by saying poems and laying flowers on each grave of the fallen soldiers. The Dutch Veterans Association, the Municipality of Holten and hundreds of people from Holten area attend this ceremony.
Together 5 children, representing each school lay down a wreath at the cross of sacrifice.

Ieder jaar op de 4e mei houden de schoolkinderen van Holten om 11.00 uur een eigen herdenking op de Canadese Begraafplaats in Holten. Zij nemen deel aan de ceremonie door het opzeggen van gedichten en het leggen van bloemen op elk graf van een gevallen soldaat. De Bond van Oudstrijders, het Gemeentebestuur van Holten en honderden belangstellenden uit Holten en omgeving zijn bij deze herdenking aanwezig.

A special ceremony took place on May 4th 2005 as about 2,000 Canadian Veterans were present at this ceremony next to The Official Canadian Delegation with the Governor-General of Canada H.E. Adrienne Clarkson, Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven, husband of H.H. Prinsess Margriet, the Commissioner of the Queen in the Provence of Overijssel and reprensatitives of the Dutch and Canadian Army and the Allied countries. About 5,500 people attended the ceremony.

Een speciale herdenking vond plaats op 4 mei 2005 in aanwezigheid van zo'n 2.000 Canadese Oud-strijders en de officiële Canadese Delegatie met de Gouverneur-Generaal van Canada H.E. Adrienne Clarkson, namens het Koningshuis Pieter van Vollenhoven, de Commisaris der Koningin in Overijssel, de Nederlandse en Canadese legerleiding en vertegenwoordigers van de Geallieerde landen. Ruim 5.500 mensen woonden de ceremonie bij.
