The Mottle

The mottle is one of the most rare colours we can find in the Budgerigar. They are born as a normal, but become more yellow with each mould. Matured they show a complete yellow body colour in combination with a black tail, wings and spots. The Mottle, shown on the pictures above, was given to me by Jimmy Burns, formerly editor of The Scottish Budgerigar Society magazine, who bred this bird out of his Moffat lines. The hen on the photo is just ten months old and not completely moulted out. still showing a lot of Greygreen in the body colour.

Unfortunately the hen died before I could breed from her.
