When you've got interesting photo's which you would like to share, than get in contact and I will get back to you so your photo can be shared right here on this site.
As I'm currently making an 3rd panel, you can follow the progress via the photo's which I will make during the building process.
You will only see the photo's of how far I am with the panel, the rest of the photo's will follow, so keep returning to this site.

First delivery of the solar cells

2 rolls of ribbon, 1x cell ribbon (the smaller one for linking the cells to a string) and 1x bus ribbon (the wider one for linking the strings of cells).

Cell ribbon cut to the required lengths, in this case 56 strings of 30 cm (as I'm going to make a panel of 28 cells and each cell needs 2 strings of ribbon.

One solar cell with the 2 cell ribbon strings soldered onto it, this I have to to 28 times.

Take great care while handling the cells, they're really fragile and before you know you end up with a cell like this.

First output, 14.6 Volt is not bad considering it has been measured indoors.

This is how I linked the cell strings together.

The panel has got now the top glass plate on, and are the 2 glass layers closed off with sealant.

All there is left to do is: let it all dray out, testing and installing. It took some time before you could see the last set of photo's but this is because I did allow the sealant in this panel some extra drying time (as suggested by one of the viewers of this site, and I do take notice of useful advice).

One of the biggest problem today is setting priorities.
We all know experienced this, yes we want to go green but not at all costs.
This is also on order by my, the question today is what comes first will it be solar energy or the grapes to make great wine?



Lucky enough the sun peeks in the morning just over the grape trees onto the panels and soon the grapes will be ready for processing after which I will trim the trees right down.

The grapes are gone, problem solved. Although that’s what I thought.
Now we got snow that limits the production back to next to nothing, but at least this is a good test, now the panels are getting exposed to below 0 temperatures, hail and snow.
