New Kiss album update from Paul Stanley From: Kissonline.com (January 9  2012)

Paul checked in with KISSOnline this morning to give us the latest update on the new KISS album:

"Friday we officially completed work on the new album.

Listening to the tracks back to back is like sensory overload. Everyone who has heard any of it is completely blown away. Powerful, heavy, melodic and epic.

It makes us very proud. You all will be too.

Mixing starts next week."

Paul Stanley has successful operation on his vocal cords From: ABCnewsradio (October 31 2011)

Kiss singer/guitarist Paul Stanley underwent an operation on his vocal cords on Tuesday to treat ongoing issues he's had with his voice. The rock legend's doctors report that the surgery was successful and that Stanley is expected to recover completely and quickly.

"I hold myself to a higher standard than others do," Stanley said in a statement. "With that in mind, I wanted to remedy a few minor issues that come with 40 years of preaching rock 'n' roll."

Stanley currently is producing Kiss' 20th studio effort, Monster, which is due out in 2012. The costumed rockers are planning a major international tour in support of the album.

All songs, as last time, are written by the band. There are no ballads.

New KISS Studio Album – coming soon From: Kissonline.com (January 28 2011)

KISS heading into studio in March - By Eric MacKinnon

tthayer001

KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer has confirmed that the legendary rockers are heading back into the studio and plan to release a new album before the end of the year. And he reveals it will follow much the same format as 2009’s Sonic Boom which was a massive success on both sides of the Atlantic.

In an interview with BackstageAxxess Thayer says: “The great news is that we are going in the studio again in the next month or two. We are starting to work on writing some songs, approach it just like we did with Sonic Boom and keep it all in the band in terms of the writing, with no agenda besides writing great rock n’ roll songs that we love, then rehearsing them before then recording them. It really felt good to us so we’ll go the same way this time.”

The new record will be the bands 20th studio album and Thayer reveals KISS co-leader Paul Stanley will produce it, after the success he had at the helm on Sonic Boom He adds: “Paul knows more what a KISS record should sound like than anybody, to be honest with you, so he is going to lead the charge and produce it again and we are all really excited about it.

“I know we are going to start working on it really soon in terms of the writing and rehearsing and we’ll probably be in the studio by March, so sometime this year I’m sure you’ll see a spanking new KISS album that’s gonna kick some butt!”

Sonic Boom over Arnhem From: Kisshome.net (June 19 2010)

Last night Kiss played in Arnhem in the Gelredome for the Dutch gig of the Sonic Boom over Europe Tour. And a blast is was! Kiss still is still capable of putting down the most spectaculair show on earth. Great Kiss show, with all the classic highlights like great bombastic stage wiht lightshow, fire and explosions and a couple of new ones, for example the combined Tommy Thayer – Eric Singer guitar/drum solo, the ‘freeze’ after Detroit Rock City and Eric’s ‘bazooka’. The setlist was stunning. Not only 3 songs from the new album, but also two songs that have not been played for years, Crazy nights and the fantastic God gave rock and roll to you II. The band sounded great and was having fun, lots of smiles. All of the, about 10.000, fans went home satisfied.

Sonic Boom review From: Kisshome.net (October 5  2009)

movingboom

Not even one year ago, november 2008, I read for the first time that Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons where thinking of recording a new Kiss album, whereas not long before that they stated multiple times they would never do that again. Early 2009 it became official, they where going to the studio to start recording. Now, october 2009, here it is, the first Kiss album in 11 years: Sonic Boom!

I’ve listened to it for about 5 times now and can safely say that they have a winner here! The album, produced by Paul Stanley and written by the band only, has a classic Kiss feel all over it. Paul and Gene earlier stated that it has a 70’s sound, but I think that’s only part of it. To me the songs have elements of  70’s, 80’s and 90’s Kiss. But it sure has Kiss all over it. It sums up 35 years of Kiss in a way. Very familiar sound, without expirimentele outings, but that is not a bad thing.

All 4 members sing lead, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer one song, Gene and Paul sing four and one song (Stand) is by Paul and Gene trading leadvocals. No ballads this time, but only rock songs that have cohesion and fit together. In the past Gene often said that the best Kiss album still had to come, well I don’t think this album is their best, but I’m sure it will be in my top 5 of all time Kiss albums at least eventually.

Absolute highlights for me are the album opener Modern day Delilah, All for the glory (sung by Eric Singer), the catchy Say yeah, which would sound great live and Gene’s I’m an animal.

The album can be bought as a single disc, but also in an extended version with 2 bonus discs. One cd with all the classic hits re-recorded and a dvd with six songs from a recent show in Buenos Aires. The re-recorded hits are done in a way very close to the originals and some of them sound (for example Hotter than hell) even better.

Tracks:

Sonic Boom: 1. Modern Day 2. Russian Roulette 3. Never Enough 4. Yes I Know (Nobody's Perfect) 5. Stand 6. Hot And Cold 7. All For The Glory 8. Danger Us 9. I'm An Animal 10. When Lightning Strikes 11. Say Yeah

Bonus cd (re-recordings): 1. Deuce/2. Detroit rock city/3.Shout it out loud/4. Hotter than hell/5. Calling dr. Love/6. Love gun/7. I was made for loving you/8. Heavens on fire/9. Lick it up/10. I love it loud/11. Forever/12. Christine sixteen/13. Do you love me14. Black diamond/15. Rock and roll all nite

Bonus dvd (live in Argentina): Deuce/Hotterh than hell/C’mon and love me/Watchin’you/100.000 Years/Rock ‘n roll all nite

Ace Frehley – Anomaly  Review From: Kisshome.net (September 16  2009)

Ace-Frehley-Anomaly

It took Ace Frehley about 20 years to deliver his new solo album, it took me only 3 times listening to it to realise that Ace hit the bull with this one. Very good album with excellent production. The album has a lot of rock stompers, like Out of space, Foxy&Free and Sister, with classic Ace chords and riffs, but also a couple of songs with melodic surprises like the groovy It’s a great life, the emotional and biographical A little below the angels and Change the world. This last song has a Tom Petty-kinda-feel, Ace’s vocals fit very well on this song. From the 3 accoustic songs, Space Bear is my favorite. To me Anomaly is much better than Ace’s last 3 solo albums and even comes close to his 1978 solo album.  Great job Ace!

Tracklisting:

01.  Foxy & Free
02. Outer Space
03. Pain In The Neck
04. Fox On The Run
05. Genghis Khan
06. Too Many Faces
07. Change The World
08. Space Bear
09. A Little Below The Angels
10. Sister
11. It’s A Great Life
12. Fractured Quantum
