Lefkas (Greec name:Lefkada) is a part of the Ionic Islands, at the North-West coast of Greece. Well known in this group of islands is Corfu (Kerkyra), but also Lefkas is getting better known as a holiday-destignation.
Lefkas is connected to the main-land with a dam through a lagoon. Entering the island at Lefkas (the city)in the north, you can take various roads over this, 300 km² big, scenic island.
De highest mountain Stavrote is 1411 m. Other mountains are Elati and Megan Orors. Lefkas has a very nice vegatation of pine- and olivetrees. Also you will see many vineyards
Especially the road from Lefkas-City south, along the East-coast, will take you along many beautifull bays and nice villages. This scenic coastroad is loosing it's charm by the endless sites of new hotels, resorts and other toeristattractions, build in the last few years.
