Orchids and Broomrapes from Europe and Asia Minor
Since 1973 the author's attention has been directed especially at the study of the orchids of Europe and Asia Minor. On numerous voyages during these years (from Cape North till Lybia and from the Azores till Azerbaidjan and Israel) he found, investigated and photographed practically all species, sub-species and varieties of this beautiful plant family with its wonderful and partly even mysterious flowers.
The results of these studies have been published as numerous articles in Dutch and German botanical periodicals. Also two books about the orchids of the Netherlands were published. In co-operation with the ecology authorities, especially in the Netherlands and in Germany, many habitats have been listed as protected areas. Furthermore, the author has published a book about all Broomrape species of Middle and Northern Europe, in which every species is represented by some full colour photographs, drawings and distribution maps.
