Van Merwijk arrangeert al vanaf halverwege de jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw voor zowel amateurs als professionals. Hij werkt veel voor het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble en het Aurelia Saxofoon Kwartet, maar ook voor andere opdrachtgegevers zoals het Nieuw Trombone Collectief, Janine Janssen, het Grachtenfestival en het Jong NBE. Voor het door hem mede opgerichte 'Winds Of Change' maakt van Merwijk alle arrangementen.

Van Merwijk started arranging somewhere in the mid eighties of the last century. He works at both a professional and a amateur level. He arranges a lot for the Netherlands WInd Ensemble and the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet, but also arranged for others like the New Trombone Collective, Janine Janssen, The Amsterdam Canal Festival and the Young NBE. He arranges the entire repertoire of 'Winds Of Change' in Bosnia and Herzegovina, an ensemble co-founded by him.
