De Itom is een vrij onbekende hulpmotor in ons land, maar werd in Italië toch vrij veel verkocht. Vooral de latere Itom Tourist bij de trappers komt men nog wel eens tegen. De Itom op de foto's is echter ook in Italië een zeldzame verschijning. Deze Itom is gebouwd in 1951 en men kon kiezen uit de versie met de motor voor op (a la Solex) of met de motor achterop, zoals hier te zien is. Deze Itom heeft nog een kamzuiger maar ondanks de ietwat achterhaalde techniek was het toch een fel motortje dat goed trok en met 35 km/h een goede topsnelheid had. Het uitlaatgeluid mag gerust fors genoemd worden. De cilinderinhoud is 48 cc. Volgens het Engelse magazine The Motor Cycle van 19 juli 1951 is de Itom een echte hill-climber, wat toch wil zeggen dat het met de trekkracht wel goed zit.

The Itom helpengine is very rare in Holland, but in Italy the Itom was a common engine. Especially the later Itom Tourist, placed near the bracket was well known. The Itom on the picture however is also in Italy very rare nowadays. This Itom was built in 1951 and you could choose between the motor placed above the frontwheel (like the Solex) or on the backwheel like this one. This Itom has a deflector piston, but despite the old-fashioned technic, it was a fast engine with enough power and a good topspeed of 35 km/h.
The Itom is a very loud engine and is 48 cc. According to a British magazine" The Motor Cycle" , the Itom is a real hill-climber, wich says enough of its power.
