Hi!
This web site is the home of Mountain Utilities, a virtual, one-man company owned by Mark van den Berg. It has been producing software since the early 1990s, and specializes in applications for musical equipment.
Please check the latest news and the list of plans.
What's at this site?
- MIDI Tools: a nifty application containing some handy MIDI-related tools.
- Editors for various pieces of musical hardware.
Some of these devices are rather ancient, but it seemed a waste not to publish these editors, which were lying around anyway... - In-depth documentation for the Behringer BCF2000/BCR2000 and BOSS GS-10 (in addition to their editors).
- Some of Mark's scientific work on music cognition.
Notes:
- How (not) to download:
You probably should not use Internet Explorer 6 to download any of the zip files on offer here: due te a well-known bug in IE6, you may end up with a partially downloaded zip file, which any unzipper then reports as corrupted. - Operating systems:
All applications work under Windows 2000 and later (e.g. XP, Vista, 7 and 8).
Tip: if you wish to run any of these applications under a different operating system (Linux, Mac OS X etc.), try running the application in a Windows 'guest' OS within a virtual machine manager. - Manuals:
Many applications currently don't come with a manual, but for common issues like MIDI setup you may refer to the manual for MIDI Tools, which can be downloaded separately from the MIDI Tools page.
