The time of steam on the tracks of German Federal Railways (Deutsche Bundesbahn) came to an end more than thirty years ago. At 26.10.1977 a train for assistence hauled by 043 903 (shed of Emden) was the very last one. This loco now is a monument in front of the station Emden Hbf.
As young railway-photographers, we enjoyed a lot of the last heavy steamworkings. Especially the mainline Rheine-Emden-Norddeich was a big attraction, very close to the Dutch border... Some pictures keep these memories alive.
