Project 'Het kekke rek' ('The cool rack') Utrecht is a true cycling city and it has every right to be proud of this. Bicycles make the city a pleasant place to live and easy to access. The flipside of this success is parking for bicycles, which is always associated with problems, disturbance and clutter. And what could be more boring than a bike rack? The project "het kekke rek" seeks to change all this. The idea is to make parking your bicycle cooler and to make it less of a burden on public space. For this a design competition was organised. The project is a personal initiative of Anita Dirix Project management. Seven manufacturers of bike racks are identified who are willing to take part in the project. The competition attracted 27 entries. The designs varied greatly. The winners will be announced during the National Cycling Congress on 18th June. Seven manufacturers are willing to each realise one design and to install these in the public space. Utrecht City Council has designated seven locations for this. On 18th June the winners were announced during the National Cycling Congress in Utrecht. The designs will be installed in the public space prior to the Grand Départ of the Tour de France on 4th July. A number of locations are on the routes followed by the first and second stages. Anita Dirix Projectmanagement Anita Dirix Projectmanagement
